#Fundingwire: Notion Closes Additional $3.2M in Seed & Udemy Raises $60M for Global Expansion

Denver IoT startup, Notion has closed $3.2 million in additional funding as part of the second tranche of a seed round it raied last year. The round was led by XL Innovate, and saw participation from Liberty Mutual Strategic Ventures. Notion has now raised a total of 5.7 million dollars in addition to a successful Kickstarter campaign. Notion is pushing up against traditional home security systems and the DIY home security industry with its simple, low-cost, highly customizable sensors

Notion CEO Brett Jurgens said the company is looking to accelerate its go-to market plans and execute on larger partnerships. He said the company wants to partner with home goods manufacturers and “provide full home awareness.” Read more

eLearning platform Udemy has raised $60 million from venture arm of Naspers Ltd. The portal offers 40,000 user-generated courses in 80 different languages to “lifelong learners.” It does not offer courses that count towards a college degree. But it does offer some corporate training services.

According to a company statement, Udemy recently surpassed 11 million students and 20,000 instructors worldwide. Some students take many courses, and Udemy has also recently surpassed 50 million enrollments across 190 countries. Read more
