Imaginary Raises $450k in a Round Led by Indian Angels Network (IAN)
New Delhi: Toko Innovation Studios which runs kids entertainment portal, Imaginary, has raised $450,000 in seed round of funding from Indian Angels Network (IAN). The company stated that the funds will be deployed in product development, user growth and content partnerships. The round also saw participation from Suresh Kalpathi, founder of SSI and Kalpathi Investments; Akshay Garg, founder of Komli Media; Srikumar Misra, founder of MilkMantra; and Rohit Krishnan, UK Head of Mckinsey- Scale up.
Founded by Aditya Mukherjee, Arnav Mukherjee and Ajitsen Surendra in 2014, the startup aims to create children’s destinations, entertainment & an ecosystem focused on emerging markets across Eurasia.
Meat Delivery Startup Licious Raises $3M from Mayfield India Management
Bangalore: Meat delivery startup Licious has raised $3 million in Series A from Mayfield India Management. The company stated that the funds will be deployed for geographical expansion and hiring.
This Bangalore based startup operates under Delightful Gourmet Pvt Ltd. Founded by Abhay Hanjura and Vivek Gupta in August 2015, the startup aims to provide orders which are high on optimum flavor and freshness, securely packed and delivered in 90 minutes. With a team size of 160, the firm now claims to have 15,000 orders a month at an average order value of INR 600.
Schaffhausen: Sirin Labs, smartphone manufacturers, has raised $72 million in seed round from Singulariteam founder Moshe Hogeg, Kazakh businessman Kenges Rakishev, and the Chinese social networking service Renren to launch a new, secure smartphone.
Founded by Moshe Hogeg, Kenges Rakishev and Tal Cohen, the startup aims to manufacture high end secure smartphones using military technology and will range between $10k-15k.Sirin Labs plans to launch these phones in May this year at Sirin Labs’ flagship store in London
Hogeg in a statement said, “We managed to combine military phone and the phone for everyday use… We said: let’s create the best phone we can. Let’s see if we can integrate the best from both worlds without limitations.”
Online Publishing Platform Medium Raises $50M in Series C
San Francisco: An online publishing platform led by Twitter cofounder Ev Williams, Medium, has raised $50 million in Series C round of funding. Founded by Evan Williams and Jose Pino, the company defines itself as a social publishing network that connects ideas and perspectives on topics that matter.
Medium has already raised $132 million in three rounds with the help of 21 investors and an acquisition (MATTER) on the way. The last round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, where the company raised $57 million in September 2015.
